Site Questions

Who made this Cozypaper site?
Me. (hint: see the Me section)

What did you use to create your web site?
I write my HTML from scratch in BBEdit Lite for Mac OSX (a simple text editor, much like Notepad on Windows). As for layout graphics, I usually do my rough draft in Corel Painter 6.1, then fine-tune everything in Photoshop 7.0.

How do you make the box thing appear, when I place my mouse cursor on the text?
That affect is done using Cascading Style Sheet (CSS). My personal CSS reference is CSS Quick Tutorial, but it's not as newbie-friendly as some of the other ones out there. I'd recommend running a search for some tutorials; the net has bazillions of them.

May I copy/ use your site design?
No. You can of course create a moderately similar design, but make sure that your design and mine don't look identical/ near identical. If you are uncertain whether the design is "near identical," please don't hesitate to ask me. I will try to offer specific suggestions as to make your design more original, should it prove necessary. ^_^

Can you make a web site for me?
No. Sorry, I barely have time to keep up with mine.

Can you link to my site?
Yes! I love link exchanges ^o^ Please see the Links page for more information.

Can you recommend a web host for me?
Rydia.Net <3 <3 <3

What happened to your manga?
It's gone... for the time being. I plan to start it from scratch some time. No, I don't know when just yet.

Art Questions

How do you draw like that?/ Where did you learn to draw?
Where do I learn to draw? On the toilet. I meditate art as I eliminate. The more I eliminate, the more skills I gain. It's a super secretive spiritual process!

Seriously, what do you think? XP I learn by practicing and by observing my surroundings. I don't have any plans to make tutorials for a NUMBER of reasons, so please don't ask me about it. I might change my mind... some day... but not in the foreseable future.

The only specific advice I can give at this time is, to practice life drawings. Draw things in front of your eyes instead of drawing from a picture. As you translate real 3-D space onto 2-D paper, you will gain a better understanding of what you're drawing.

Also, at least when you're practicing (as opposed to working on your personal masterpiece), focus on the basic shapes instead of fine details. Many beginners (myself included) often make the mistake of focusing too much on the tree, and missing the whole forest. Details will impress the masses, but it is the basics that accomplished artists look for.

May I use your art on my site/ project/ etc?
You need my permission for that. Please read Art Usage FAQ for more information. Don't worry, it's not as complicated as you might think!

What do you use to make all these drawings?
Refer to the line that says "Media: _____." It's right under the title of each artwork. Usually, but not always, it will be a combination of Corel Painter 6.1 and Adobe Photoshop 7.0.

Do you have a tablet?
Yes. Wacom Intuos 9x12 (for my desktop), and Intuos II 6x8 (for my laptop). I honestly can't feel any difference between the two... (though I've tried 4"x5" and felt INTENSELY CRAMPED)

Why do you use CG all the times? Isn't it like cheating?
Here's a question for you: what makes a drawing good? If not elements like solid anatomy, intriguing lighting, composition, perspective and creativity, what else? A computer cannot take care of any of those things... at least not with the current level of technology.

The computer is only a tool. It is the artist, not the tool, that makes good art. I don't rely on CG any more than a pastel lover relies on pastels.

Can you draw something for me?
No. I barely have the time to do paid commissions, so drawing things for free is out of question. If you are willing to pay, please see the commission page for more info.

May I try copying your drawings?
I don't think copying is going to do any good... but if you really want to, feel free. :) Just remember to credit me properly as the original artist, if you use the copied drawing online or elsewhere. You must not submit the copied drawing to contests, nor use it to make money.

Comments

Found a broken link!
Ack! Please notify me of any broken links on this site by emailing me. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I love your art!
I am flattered and grateful that you enjoyed my works. If you'd like to share with me some specific thoughts on my art (e.g. if you have a strong favorite), please feel free to do so. Alternatively, you can comment on my Elfwood gallery and my GFXartist page. It'd make my day either way!

I have a suggestion regarding your site/ art.
If you're DYING to tell me, go ahead. But you might want to note: when I finish something, it's finished. I normally do not go back to fix it later. You wouldn't want to send me a 500-word critique on my art that I wouldn't apply anyway, would you? :)

I do value others' opinions, but I usually -- and personally -- ask for critiques before I'm done with it. That way, it's much more likely that I put the critiques to use.

Also, many of the drawings on this site are quite old. Chances are, I'm already aware of the mistake that you're itching to point out. It'd be like telling a college student about a mistake she made back in seventh grade. ^_-

You suck.
I love you too ^_^

This FAQ doesn't cover my question...
Email me and I'll look into it.
