Art Usage FAQ

You must have my permission before using any of my works, for any purposes. This is especially important if you want to use my art on a web site, but holds for other situations as well.

EXCEPTION: feel free to save the images on your HD (WITHOUT putting them online), print them out and stick them on your wall or your folders. If you'd like to do anything else with my art, however, please read on.

Things to keep in mind:

Okay? ^_^ Then please contact me about the permission. Be sure to include your web site address in your letter. If your site is not open yet, ask me AFTER it's opened. Also, please specify which picture(s) you want to use. That's it.

Thank you for taking your time to read this -- I really, really appreciate it.

I'm a little shy... Will you say no, even if I ask? Depends. Generally, with fanarts, you can pretty much expect me to say yes. But with non-fanart pictures, I might not be as eager about it.

You put your pictures on the internet, which is public domain. Therefore you can't tell other people to stop using your stuff. NOT TRUE, despite popular belief.

Think about it -- my body is mine. My body does not turn into public property when I step out of my house. Sure, you're free to ogle at me all you want (though I doubt anyone would want to ;D But I digress), but that's about it. You won't be able to do much else without my consent.

Why do you require permission? You should be flattered that people want to use your art. I am. But let's go back to the body analogy, and think of art theft as sexual harassment. Is the victim supposed to feel flattered, because the offender found her attractive? No. She must consent to it, or else it will be violating, not complimenting.

This is NOT going to stop people from stealing your art. I am aware of that. I can only try, just as I try to bring my art closer to the unreachable state of perfection ^_^

Are people actually stupid enough to claim your art as their own? You'd be surprised. Once, someone flamed me for being protective of my stuff, and said that only "five year olds" would claim someone else's stuff as their own. Later that very same day, I came across someone claiming my entire site as hers. *shrugs*

Why don't you try the right click protection? I did try it. And got rid of it. Not planning to use it again.
